Arena Wars at the Kitsap County Fairgrounds

Once again promotor Matt Phillips and match maker Keith Weir put on a show that entertained the sold out building while offering ten fighters and two kick boxers the opportunity to step into the ring and delight fans.

Unbeaten Piotr Apostol faced Andres Reyes in the main event scheduled for six rounds. Reyes entered carrying wins in five of his last seven fights.

The opening round was close as both men moved well to create angles from which to land body shots. Reyes fought to a slight advantage in landing more heavy shots, though Apostol started to connect and inflict damage as the round drew to a close. Apostol gained some momentum in the second round and controlled the action as he began to double up on the body shots, breaking down Reyes defense. Late in the round Reyes pinned Apostol in the corner, and while Reyes did land punches to Apostol's body, Apostol fired back eventually making Reyes back away.

Apostol answered the bell for the third round firing hard body shots, most of which landed. Apostol landed a solid right to Reyes' body just prior to the one minute mark that dropped Reyes to the canvas. Reyes rose and continued to fight, but Apostol closed the distance between the two and landed another barrage of body shots. When Apostol landed another heavy right a minute later, Reyes again dropped to the canvas and was slow to attempt to rise. The referee stepped in and waved an end to the fight at 1:54 of the third round.

Apostol would remain unbeaten and claim the Arena Wars belt, winning by TKO at 1:54 of the third round.

Two unbeaten featherweights, Emmanuel Ojeda and Alexis De la Cerda Landin squared of in a six round co main event. Landin began his pro career scoring knockouts in his first three fights, and then winning the next three by decision, while Ojeda had battled tough opponents to win three close decisions.

Most of the opening round was spent with the men moving around the ring looking for an opening, but throwing few punches. Land in did throw more than Ojeda, but he was unable to land effectively as Ojeda slipped away. There were more punches throwing in the second round, and in that round Landin began to land body shots. Ojeda threw counter punches, and fired an occasional shot towards Landin's head. As the round drew to a close there was a flurry of punches as the two men exchanged shots in the middle of the ring.

Ojeda was more aggressive in the third round as he began to target is assault on Landin's body. Land in threw effective counter punches early, then Ojeda made the adjustment to move out of range of Landin's reach. The fourth round was close as both men threw shots at the other's body, but both men proved adept at blocking punches and covering up.

Ojeda was able to score and gain a bit of momentum in the fifth round when he backed Landin on to the ropes. However, Landin moved off the ropes in the final thirty seconds and from the center of the ring he began to again land body shots. the ability to land body shots set the tome for the sixth round. Ojeda was able to land scoring punches when he could back Landin on to the ropes; Landin scored when he fought from the center of the ring. At the midpoint of the round Landin fired and landed a heavy right body shot that dropped Ojeda to the canvas.

After six rounds two judges scored the fight 59-54, the third scored it 60-53, all in favor of Landin who would claim the unanimous decision win.

There was a lot of jawing at the weigh in between Agustin Tovar and Gerardo Esquivel which served as a preview of the action that would take place in the ring. Esquivel was looking to get back on the winning track after taking tough losses in his last two fights; Tovar was looking for a win after taking a split draw in his last outing.

The trash talk of the weigh in turned in to a flurry of punches from both men in the opening round. Esquivel was on target with his right, and often followed that with a left aimed at Tovar's body. Tovar used his height and reach advantage to try to keep Esquivel backing up, but Esquivel was content to stay in tight. Tovar began to land his left more often in the second round, and he was able to connect to Esquivel's body. Esquivel withstood the damage and moved to close the distance between the two while firing body shots.

Both men threw a lot of punches in the third round. Tovar continued to target Esquivel's body while Esquivel began to launch shots at Tovar's head. Tovar continued his assault on Esquivel's body in the fourth round, though Esquivel was able to block many of the punches. Esquivel moved his target from Tovar's body to Tovar's head.

While the pace of the fifth round was slower than the previous four, Esquivel gained some momentum and had a solid round landing shots to Tovar's body and head. There was a momentary stoppage at the midpoint of the sixth round after Tovar threw a low blow. The break in the action favored Esquivel who, when the fight resumed jumped toward Tovar and landed a number of punches. Esquivel caught Tovar with a hard right to the head at the 2:30 mark that staggered Tovar. The round ended with both men throwing wildly and landing many.

After six rounds one judge scored the fight even at 57, the other two scored it 58-56 for Tovar who would claim the majority decision win.

Hernadez' left catches Mitchell

Micah Mitchell made his professional boxing debut facing Joel Hernandez. Mitchell had ring experience as a bare knuckle fighter; Hernandez was coming off a tough loss in his last outing.

Mitchell answered the opening bell aggressively throwing punches with both hands. Hernandez patiently looked for opening to land to Mitchell's body, and when he did he slowed Mitchell's assault. Hernandez landed a heavy right to Mitchell's body a minute and a half in to the round that dropped Mitchell to the canvas. Mitchell took the count and continued to fight. Hernandez began to land many body shots and in so doing he backed Mitchell on to the ropes, With Mitchell on the ropes and covering up, Hernandez landed a combination that again dropped Mitchell. This time he would not continue, and the fight came to an end.

Hernandez claimed the TKO victory at 2:18 of the first round.

Oscar Arriaga stepped in to the ring looking to get his first win against Jovanis Rodriguez Pallares in the opening fight of the night. Pallares entered the fight coming off a win in his last outing.

Arriaga gained an early advantage in the opening round using his height and reach advantage and throwing combinations to keep Pallares moving. When Pallares stepped in close, he was able to land punches to Arriaga's body. Pallares continued to close the distance between the two men in the second round, and while in close, Pallares landed body shots and negated Arriaga's reach.

The third round was close after s low start. Pallares continued to move to close the distance and take the fight in close while Arriaga tried to step back and create the distance necessary to throw his right. Arriaga moved effectively to create the distance to take advantage of his reach in the fourth round, but Pallares kept the pressure and continued to step toward Arriaga and fire shots to Arriaga's body.

After four rounds, one judge scored the fight even at 38, the second scored it 39-37 for Pallares, while the third judge scored the fight 39-37 for Arriaga. The fight would end in a draw.

Keller's right stuns Olmo

Mihaela Keller made her professional kick boxing debut facing Tiziana Olmo in a super feather weight bout scheduled for three rounds.

In the opening round Keller kept moving around the ring making it difficult for Olmo to land punches of kicks. Keller used her quick hand speed to land punches when the two women were close. Olmo was able to launch some big kicks in the round though none of them found the target.

In the second round Keller pressured Olmo, making her step away from Keller's heavy hands. Then Keller fired a left leg kick that caught Olmo flush on the head and dropped her to the canvas. though the referee would count, Olmo was out, laying motionless on her back.

Keller would claim the knockout win at 29 seconds of the second round.
