Arena Wars Fight Night 2

April 19, 2025

Camp Withycombe Clackamas, Oregon

The main event of the second night of the Arena Wars fights at Camp Withycombe featured Miklo Arnold and Andres Reyes in a six round bout, the winner to wear the Arena Wars title belt. Arnold was working to keep his run of wins in the United States in tact, while Reyes reentered the ring after a six and a half year hiatus.

In the opening moments of the first round each man stepped cautiously to assess what the other would throw. After s short period of assessment, they stepped toward each other and began throwing a lot of punches. The initial assault for each man focused on the other's body, and Arnold gained a slight advantage in that are. Reyes, as the round drew to an end, closed the distance between the two and landed body shots. The second round saw both men abandon most of their defensive tactics as they resorted to standing close and throwing heavy punches in rapid succession. Arnold may have thrown a few more punches, but even so, the round was close.

Reyes controlled most of the action of the third round as he kept pressure on Arnold, forcing him to move to avoid Reyes' body shots. In this round, as in the second, the fighters focused more on throwing hard punches than blocking what was coming at them. Near the end of the round, Reyes moved his assault up and caught Arnold's chin with a couple of scoring shots. Reyes also controlled the action of the fourth round, and in this round he threw a few more punches than Arnold. Reyes continued pressure appeared to frustrate Arnold who had to make the adjustment to fire punches while stepping backward.

Reyes continued to carry his momentum into the fifth round as he walked Arnold down, standing in front of him and throwing combinations to Arnold's body. Arnold made some adjustments to his offense and was able to land some scoring punches even as he backed out of Reyes' reach. The sixth round was close as Arnold began to counter punch. However, that also meant that Reyes was continuing to exert pressure on him.

After six rounds one judge saw the fight even at 57, the second judge scored it 59-54, and the third scored it 58-56 in favor of Reyes who would claim the win behind the majority decision.

Thompson's right is about to catch Molina stepping in

The co main featured bout matched unbeaten Aaron Thompson and Moises Molina in a fight scheduled for five rounds. The unbeaten Thompson relies not just on boxing skill, he has very fast hands and uses his speed to his advantage. Molina, on the other hand, finds his advantage in being left handed, an attribute that can often frustrate the orthodox fighter.

Thompson stepped toward Molina at the opening bell and began throwing his jab and following that with body shots. Those punches kept Molina moving and that meant he was unable to launch many return punches. Molina settled some in the second and in so doing he was able to find the range with his right handed jab, as well as follow it at times with his power left. Thompson made the adjustment to move away from Molina's power hand and throw his right as he did so. Thompson threw more punches in the round and by the end, he had slowed Molina's momentum.

Molina tired to step in close to Thompson and throw body shots in the third, but Thompson was quick to move out of harm's way. Thompson threw a hard right hand at 1:45 of the round that dropped Molina. Molina stood as the referee counted and then the fight resumed. Thompson quickly stepped to Molina and caught him again with a flurry of punches that sent Molina to the canvas again at 2:04.

Molina's corner had seen enough and waved for the referee to stop the fight. Thompson would get another win due to Molina's retirement.

McMinnville, Oregon's Jose Garcia faced Timmy Mason of Helena, Montana in a scheduled five round welterweight bout. Garcia was coming off a string of two knockout wins to open his pro career, while Mason brought experience as an amateur and a bare knuckle fighter.

Both fighters showed they possessed technical boxing skills in the opening round as they moved to set up their jab, fired that, and when opportunities arose, followed with body shots. Both of them were able to land punches, though Mason gained the edge when he landed a strong left that dropped Garcia at the 2:40 mark of the round. Both Mason and Garcia threw more power punches in the second round, only occasionally shooting a jab. Garcia, behind heavier punches, controlled much of the action of the round. Mason was forced to counter punch and that meant he also had to step in close, subjecting himself to Garcia's power punches.

Power punches were the story of the third round as well. Both men were able to throw scoring punches, but it was a Garcia right that landed hard to Mason's chin that dropped him to the canvas. Mason struggled to rise, forcing referee Joel Scobie to wave the fight to an end.

Garcia would claim the TKO win at 2:20 of the third to keep his streak alive.

Allen lands his left to Funkhouser's head

Derick Funkhouser made his professional debut facing unbeaten Haidon Allen in a four round lightweight bout. Allen has faced some tough seasoned fighters in his young career, though this would be the first time he would face an unknown opponent.

Funkhouser answered the first round bell stepping to Allen and throwing his jab to set up his right. He appeared to be a boxer that knew haw to fight technically. He moved Allen off his mark and pressured him. Then Allen settled in and started to throw, and land, heavy shots to Funkhouser's body and head. Behind a hard right hand to Funkhouser's chin, Allen scored a knockdown at the mid\point of the round. Funkhouser stood and continued to fight, but he could not match Allen's speed and strength. Allen backed Funkhouser into the corner and landed a number of hard, fast shots to the body and head which forced referee Terrence Moody to step in and wave the fight to an end.

Allen would claim the TKO win at 2:58 of the first round to remain unbeaten.

Juan Jackson had been out of the boxing ring for nearly two years, having spent the interim as a Muy Thai fighter. Mike McMillian on the other hand was riding a two in streak.

The fight started with a rather slow pace as each man looked for an opportunity to step in tight and land to the other's body. Jackson found that space first and landed a couple of shots to McMillian's body. McMillian made a few adjustments, one was to throw on the move, providing him space to fire punches toward Jackson's head and then dropping down to the body. Jackson closed the round looking to use his slight reach advantage. Jackson's reach advantage allowed him to land his jab early in the second round. Then McMillian began to throw combinations, many of which caught Jackson, which also slowed Jackson's punch output.

The pace of the third round slowed from the second. Jackson continued to try to land his jab, but McMillian proved adept at blocking most of them. McMillian continued to throw combinations and as they landed to Jackson's body, McMillian was able to slow Jackson. The pace of the fourth round was quicker as McMillian began to throw quicker punches. He let his hands go, and many of his shots landed.

McMillian controlled the opening half of the fifth round as he resorted t his most effective offensive weapon, combinations to the body and head. Jackson, just past the midpoint, landed a few straight lefts that shifted the momentum to his favor as the round ended.

After five rounds one judge scored the fight 48-47, the other two scored it 49-46, all in favor of McMillian who would remain unbeaten with the unanimous decision.

Potter throws his left as Anderson steps away

Dylan Potter last entered the ring as a boxer in 2019. In between, he has fought as a kickboxer and scored a TKO win. Aurek Anderson entered the ring coming off a close loss in his last appearance in the ring.

Anderson showed that he carried power in the opening moments of the first round as he landed many hard shots which kept Potter on the move. A hard right stunned Potter in the middle of the round, making him move away from the power shots and limiting the number of punches he threw. Potter made a few adjustments to his attack in the second round and that meant he threw more jabs, and from that was able to land shots to Anderson's body as well. With thirty seconds left in the round, Anderson closed the gap between he and Potter and landed a series of left - right combinations.

Potter regained the momentum in the third round as he was able to land his jab and hard body shots to score. Then at the 2:30 mark Anderson scored a knockdown throwing a left that landed hard to Potter's body. The final round was close as each man returned to his most effective weapon. Potter threw a number of body shots; Anderson, though he threw fewer, landed heavier.

After four rounds one judge cored the fight 40-35, the other two scored it 39-36 all in favor of Anderson who would claim the unanimous decision win.

The opening bout was a four round feather weight bout featuring unbeaten Kathlyn Martinez Arnold (4-0 2KO) and Tiziana Olmo, who was looking for her first win as a professional boxer.

Both women threw a lot of punches in the opening round, most of them targeting the other’s body. Olmo moved to keep Arnold just off her left shoulder to catch her with a jab and follow that with a power right. Arnold threw combinations, following her jab with lefts to the body. Olmo kept the distance between the two tight, attempting to neutralize Arnold’s power. The second round saw both women throwing combinations, usually starting by targeting the body and following that with a shot aimed at the other’s chin. As the round progressed, Olmo shot her left at Arnold’s head while Arnold shot her left at Olmo’s body and followed that with a right to the chin.

Olmo had a solid third round as she was able to land a number of shots to Arnold’s body. Arnold weathered the assault and continued to shoot punches targeting Olmo’s body. Late in the round, Arnold was able to score behind a lead right followed by her left, both targeting Olmo’s body, though Olmo’s scoring body shots began to mount. Olmo landed the heavier shots in the closing round, many of then to Arnold’s body. Though Arnold threw more punches in the round, they were not all effective as Olmo blocked many of them.

After four rounds of an action packed bout, one judge scored the fight 39-37 for Arnold, the other two scored it even at 38. The fight would end in a majority draw.
