Read the Review, then Read the Book. Brian D'Ambrosio has written an outstanding biography of Marvin Camel a Native American workd Champion from Montana. This book is a must read for all fans of boxing as well as fans of a story about a man who proves that hard work and dedication can lead to success.
In a surprising move, the Tacoma Boxing Club has been told to relocate after 36 years being housed at the Al Davies Boys and Girls Club in Tacoma. The Boys and Girls Club plans to add a second basketball court in the area currently home to the boxing rings. What this means is that the most successful amateur boxing program in the state must find a new home, and soon. You can read the story from the Tacoma News Tribune HERE. If you can help, follow THIS LINK to the club's GoFundMe page and contribute to keeping the successful program alive.
Upcoming Fight Cards:
Gallegos-Hardwood highlights mixed combat sports card July 8th in Medford, Oregon
By Ricardo Ibarra
Three pro boxing match-ups will be featured on a mixed combat sports show presented by regional MMA organization Rogue Promotions on Saturday July 8th at the EdenVale Winery in Medford, Oregon. The boxing ring and the MMA cage will be set up side-by-side for the event, with a number of pro and amateur boxing, MMA, and submission contests scheduled throughout the day.
Highlighting the boxing portion of the card will be Medford's own Enrique “Ricky” Gallegos (7-5-1, 2 KOs) squaring off with Shawn “The Hurricane” Hardwood, of Humboldt, California, in a four round middleweight fight. Gallegos, a popular local fighter, will look to add his second win of the year in front of his hometown fans. He last stepped into the ring in May, knocking out Josh Solis in the first round of what up to that point had been an entertaining slugfest. Hardwood, who has a record of 3-2-1 as an MMA fighter, will be making his pro boxing debut.
In the other two pro bouts, Medford's Troy Wohosky (1-2, 1 KO) will make his comeback to the ring after a four year hiatus from the sport, taking on Brennon Crow, who is making his pro debut, in a four round welterweight bout; and in a light heavyweight contest, Abraham Martin will take on Joshua Lagrange. Both Martin and Lagrange are fighting their first pro bout in a boxing ring.
Fifteen amateur boxing bouts will take place during a day session from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with several submission matches also scheduled during this time.
Doors will reopen at 5:30 p.m. for the pro boxing and pro/am MMA portion of the card with the first fight to set to start at 7 p.m. Tickets to 'Arena Wars: TOTAL KOMBAT' can be purchased locally at International Fitness, Wild River Pizza, Sky High, and Tribal Vape. 10 seat VIP tables are available and can be purchased through the promoter.
